Massage Mastery: From Student to Professional and Spa Bodywork for Massage Therapists authored by Anne Williams, began as a traditional print textbook. They were both widely adopted by massage schools through the US. To preserve access for schools after the publisher (Lippencott, Williams & Wilkins) discontinued it’s entire massage line, Anne Williams partnered with Eric Brown to create Massage Mastery Online. This partnership was founded on a shared vision of bringing massage education into the 21st century through an innovative digital format.

Since then, we have made significant enhancements, including:

• Streamlined Interface: A revamped user interface for a smoother experience.
• Chunked Content: Material organized into manageable learning segments.
• Embedded Videos: Technique videos integrated contextually throughout the text.
• Rich Visual Experience: Hundreds of images added to the already visually-rich textbooks.
• Note-Taking System: Students can take notes on any page and print or download them.
• Audio Recordings: Complete textbook audio for students with reading or language challenges.
• Quiz Bank: Hundreds of questions integrated into the chapters to test student knowledge.
• Quick Search Feature: Replacing the traditional index.
• Preventing Disease Transmission: This textbook, used by over 18,000 students and professionals, is now integrated into the Massage Mastery textbook.
• Group Management: Tools for schools to purchase textbooks, assign them to students, and monitor student progress.
• Real-Time Updates: Material corrections and updates based on feedback.

And there are more great features coming: 

• Podcasts: Engaging podcasts provide an easy and entertaining entry into the book’s content. They have been added to each lesson in the first three chapters. We’ve received positive feedback and will roll these out to the rest of the book in 2025. 
• A virtual tutor: We’ll be doing a beta test in 2025 of a virtual tutor who will be available to students 24-7. Stay tuned for the announcement.   

Why the Increase?

Our digital textbooks were initially offered at a fraction of the printed version’s cost to expedite their availability to schools early in the pandemic. Now we must adjust our pricing to sustain and further develop this essential educational resource.

Since 2019, the two foundational textbooks Massage Mastery and Spa Bodywork have been priced at $79 and $49 respectively through bookstore distributors like VitalSource and Red Shelf. For colleges purchasing through those channels the price will remain at that level. However, you can bypass the middleman and purchase them directly from our site for just $39, reflecting our commitment to providing high-value resources at an accessible price.
